Carey Park was one of the first government housing developments completed following World War II. By 1960, it had grown to become a suburb of 6,000 people, or almost half the population of Bunbury!

In 2025, the Bunbury Museum wants to tell the story of this diverse and dynamic suburb in an exhibition all about Carey Park. We are looking for people to share their memories, photos and objects. From local legends to untold stories, we want to capture those narratives and paint the history of Carey Park through to the present day.

If you have objects, memories, photographs, or ideas you’d like to share, please get in touch with us at museum@bunbury.wa.gov.au

Join us at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre for a memory session that recognises the rich history of Carey Park and shares memories of the people and places that have shaped this vibrant community.

This event is part of the background research being done for the upcoming exhibition. You can help us by sharing your personal memories, local knowledge and photos. Or you can just sit back, enjoy your tea and scones, and listen to some yarns.

RSVP and learn more here or phone us on 9792 7284.
