We’re making improvements to Picton Crescent to make rubbish collection easier and improve safety for residents, pedestrians and visitors.

At the moment, rubbish collection can be difficult for service vehicles, and parking close to the corner can create safety issues for people walking through the area. In response, our engineers have developed a design that improves access and safety while maintaining the character of the street.

What’s changing?
As part of this upgrade, we will:
- Install concrete bin pads, providing a clear and accessible place for bins on collection day
- Move parallel parking to the opposite side of the street
- Keep the existing one‑way traffic flow
- Introduce design features near the corner that slow vehicle speeds and improve sight lines for pedestrians
- To allow space for the new bin pads, the total number of on‑street parking bays will be reduced by four.
We understand that changes to parking can impact residents. If you would like to discuss this or provide feedback, please contact the project team using the details below.
These changes will improve safety near the corner for residents and visitors, make rubbish collection easier and more reliable, and keep footpaths clear and accessible for pedestrians

- Expected start date: Monday, 9 March 2026
- Duration: Approximately one week

This upgrade is taking place to improve access for rubbish collection vehicles and make the area safer for people walking nearby, particularly around the corner. We’ve worked with our engineers to find a solution that addresses these issues while keeping the overall look and feel of the street the same. Please contact us if you have any feedback about the design.
- Concrete bin pads will be installed for residents to place bins on collection day.
- Parallel parking will move to the opposite side of the street.
- The one-way traffic flow will remain, but the design will slow vehicles near the corner and improve sight lines for pedestrians.
- To achieve these improvements, the final design will result in the removal of four on street parking bays.
Work is expected to start on 9 March and take approximately one week. We’ll keep you updated on any changes.
An alternative service will be provided. Please place your bins on the footpath side of the road during the construction week.
Yes, access will be maintained as much as possible. If temporary restrictions are required, we’ll notify you and work with you to minimise inconvenience.
On street parking will not be available in its current location during construction, as the new design relocates the parallel parking to the opposite side of the road. Once works are complete, parking will be available in this new location.
We understand there will be a transition period with this new layout. If you have issues with your bin collection, please call 08 9792 7333 and we will arrange a collection.
As part of the new design, parking will be relocated to the opposite side of the street. To allow space for the bin pads, the total number of on‑street parking bays will be reduced by four. We understand that changes to parking can have an impact, so if you’d like more information or want to talk it through, please contact Nathan Sawyer, Coordinator Works, on (08) 9792 7333 or email info@bunbury.wa.gov.au:
No, the speed limit will remain the same. However, the design will naturally slow vehicles near the corner for improved safety.
There may be some noise and minor disruption during construction, but we’ll work to minimise impacts as much as possible and keep you informed. Works will generally occur during standard hours to reduce inconvenience.
No, visitors and delivery drivers will still have access. Temporary signage will help guide parking during and after construction.
