South West Sports Awards 2026

Nominations will open with a formal announcement later in 2026 for the inaugural South West Sports Awards, which recognise athletes, officials, volunteers and sporting events from across the South West region.

The renowned Junior Sports Award and AJ (Tood) Buswell South Western Times Sports Star of the Year, coordinated by South Western Times, are also included and were presented at the annual ceremony.

Who is eligible to be nominated for an Award?

Any South West-based sport and recreation organisations, clubs or associations, schools and State and National sporting associations are eligible to lodge a submission. 'Sports' are activities as defined by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS).

Nominated individuals or organisations should be mostly based within the supporting Local Government Area. The South West Region comprises the following Local Government Areas: City of Bunbury, City of Busselton, Shire of Augusta – Margaret River, Shire of Harvey, Shire of Manjimup, Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Shire of Capel, Shire of Collie, Shire of Dardanup, Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup, Shire of Boyup Brook and Shire of Nannup.

Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination on behalf of a club or community group, a teammate or coach, or anyone who has made a positive difference to our South West community through active participation. Allow for five to ten minutes to provide a thoughtful submission for your chosen nominee.

Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply for the South West Sports Awards 2026. By submitting this official entry form, nominators confirm they understand and agree to the requirements.

  • Nominations for 2026 must be completed by Wednesday 23rd Sept at 11am. A request for a nomination form can be made available by emailing info@bunbury.wa.gov.au.
  • The acceptance or rejection of nominations will be determined by the awards judging panel.
  • The awards judging panel will make the final decisions and no further correspondence will be entered into.
  • Applications will be accepted on the following criteria:
    • The nominee will participate predominantly in sporting activities conducted within the South West region, unless the sport does not allow the opportunity to compete within the region.
    • The nominee is a member of an incorporated club or association based in the South West region, unless the sport does not allow the opportunity to compete as part of a club or association.
    • All nominations must be endorsed by an incorporated club or association, unless the sport does not allow the opportunity to compete within the region.
    • All nominations must include a photo of the nominee (profile or action photo) in JPEG.
  • The nominees shall be selected on their achievements, from 1 January 2025 until 31 December 2025.
  • Nominations will be accepted until the nomination round closes Wednesday 23rd Sept at 11am.
