Give your child the chance to step into another culture, grow as a young leader and represent Bunbury as part of our long-standing Sister City connection with Setagaya, Japan.
For more than 30 years, the Setagaya Goodwill Tour has offered students in Years 6 and 7 from the Greater Bunbury region a unique opportunity to develop their personal skills through travel. Through travel, homestay experiences and cultural exchange, students build confidence, resilience, independence and global awareness - skills that stay with them well beyond the tour.
In 2026, another group of young ambassadors will travel to Setagaya from 28 September to 9 October, where they will take part in a full cultural immersion. Students will stay with local families for the weekend, participate in hands‑on cultural activities, visit schools, explore historic and modern landmarks and experience daily life in one of Tokyo’s residential districts.
This tour strengthens the values at the heart of the Sister City relationship - friendship, curiosity, respect and mutual learning - while helping young people discover who they are and who they can become.
To help make this life‑changing experience possible, we are calling for three adult chaperones to apply.
Chaperones play a vital role in supporting students, assisting with cultural and travel logistics, and helping uphold the spirit of goodwill throughout the tour.
If you or someone you know is passionate about youth development, travel and cultural exchange, we encourage you to apply.
Interested in applying? Register for one of the Information Sessions below to find out more.
Give your child - or yourself - the opportunity to explore a new culture, build confidence and represent Bunbury on an international stage.
