

The Sister City Advisory Group plays a key role in fostering Bunbury's international relationships, creating meaningful cultural, educational and community connections that enrich local life and strengthen global partnerships.
What We Do
The Group supports a wide range of programs and cultural initiatives, including:
- The long running Setagaya Goodwill Student Exchange Program
- Recruitment of host families for visiting Japanese students
- Welcoming delegations visiting Bunbury and the South West region
- Supporting local community groups pursuing international partnerships, such as the Bunbury Runners Club and its marathon exchange with Setagaya
- Arts and cultural exchanges
- Community cultural events
- Milestone celebrations that strengthen international ties
About the Group
The Sister City Advisory Group works to:
- Strengthen Sister and Friendship City relationships through ongoing exchanges, programs and joint initiatives
- Raise local awareness of Bunbury's international partnerships through media, events and community outreach
- Encourage community participation in cultural programs, events and exchange opportunities
Our City Partnerships
Setagaya, Japan - Sister City
- Agreement signed: 12 October 1992
- 2026 marks the 34th anniversary of this partnership
Jiaxing, China - Friendship City
- Agreement signed: November 2000
- Established alongside the Bunbury Port Authority and Zhapu Port Sister Port Relationship
- 2026 marks the 26th anniversary of the relationship
Nha Trang, Vietnam - Friendship City
- MOU signed: 2 December 2015
- 2026 marks the 11th anniversary of the relationship
