Judging this year’s Iluka Visions was an absolute joy and honestly, a total nightmare when it came to choosing the winners! The level of raw talent coming out of our South West high schools is mind-blowing. From bold ceramics and intricate printmaking to rich, expressive paintings that made us stop dead in our tracks, the sheer skill on display was truly remarkable.
2026 Iluka Visions judge Charlotte White
What blew the judges away wasn't just the technique and use of mediums, but the incredible heart and honest storytelling behind each piece. You tackled massive ideas about identity, connection, current controversial topics, and nature with pure courage and style.
Huge congratulations to all this year’s award winners. You’ve raised the bar yet again, kept us on our toes, and proved that the future of Western Australian art is in brilliant hands.
About Iluka Visions 2026
Now in its 35th year, Iluka Visions is BRAG’s annual exhibition for student artists from South West high schools. It gives students the opportunity to see their work professionally displayed in a public gallery, often for the first time.
This year, a record number of 154 artworks were chosen from 272 submissions. They represent 189 students in Years 7 to 12 from 17 schools across seven local government areas. Among them are 42 equity students living with disability or additional learning needs.
Works span painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, wearable art, photography, video and mixed media. Together, they offer a genuine snapshot of how young people in the South West see and respond to the world around them. A panel of arts professionals judge the selected works across a range of category and overall awards, giving students a taste of what it’s like to have their work critiqued and celebrated in a professional, competitive setting.
Iluka Visions 2026 marks 35 years of partnership between Iluka Resources Limited and BRAG, a relationship that has given generations of South West students the chance to exhibit their work professionally.
The exhibition continues at BRAG until Sunday 16, November. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Entry is always free.
