The City is seeking nominations from community members who are passionate about arts and culture to fill up to eight vacancies on the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) Advisory Group.

The purpose of the group is to bring together industry and community expertise and involvement.

It aims to support Bunbury City Council’s commitment to investigate the potential for a new state-of-the-art, world-class, purpose-built art gallery within the next seven years and to continue providing advice on gallery operations, exhibitions, programs, council policies, and public art.

Appointments are expected to be made in May 2024 and will extend until September 2025.

The advisory group will consist of four sub-groups:

1. New Gallery Development Sub-Group. To identify potential sites to locate a new gallery in alignment with budgets, resources and City of Bunbury strategies.

2. Gallery Foundation and Fundraising Sub-Group. To develop and implement the creation of a foundation to support the purchasing capacity for the permanent collection, the care of the collection, and to enhance BRAG’s ability to develop exhibitions of national and international touring quality.

3. Aboriginal Reference Group Sub-Group. To provide advice and high-level expertise across all mediums of contemporary and traditional Aboriginal art, including museum and gallery leadership, curatorial experience, and insights into making BRAG a more culturally safe gallery.

4. City Of Bunbury Policy and Public Art Sub-Group. To provide advice and high-level expertise regarding policies as they pertain to BRAG and the City’s Public Art Collection, in addition to making recommendations to the care, promotion, and commissioning of new works for public art in the City of Bunbury.
