Overdue Rates and late payments 

Late and non-payment of rates and charges will result in penalty interest accruing. Penalty interest is calculated at 7% per annum daily. Penalty interest is administered in accordance with section 6.51 of the Local Government Act 1995. If you are having problems paying your account please contact our Rates Department.

Payment Assistance

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation the City of Bunbury has adopted a COVID-19 Financial Hardship Policy. 

The aim of this policy is to support ratepayers who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The policy ensures we can offer adequate and fair support to our ratepayers.

We understand this has been an extremely hard time for many people and we want to support all members of our community with respect and understanding.

If you are unable to pay our rates due to a change in your circumstances as a result of COVID-19, please contact the City of Bunbury Rates Department on 9792 7243 or via email or access a copy of the City of Bunbury’s Financial Hardship Application Form here​.

Please complete the application form and return to or drop into Customer Support at 4 Stephen Street, Bunbury. 

Once your application has been assessed you will be notified in writing of the outcome.

Direct Debit Plan

This will allow you to pay your account off over time in more manageable instalments i.e. weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Once a direct debit plan has been agreed upon you will receive written confirmation of the arrangement.

If your circumstances change, please contact us so we can renegotiate your payment plan.

Centrepay is a free direct bill paying service offered to customers receiving payments from Centrelink. Through Centrepay you can choose to pay bills by having a regular amount deducted from your Centrelink payment.
