Event Shuttle Bus Timetable

The event shuttle bus will leave from Bunbury Bus Station to arrive at Koombana Bay.

Before the road closure:

• 9:20am,
• 9:35am,
• 9:50am,
• 10:05am.

After the road closure:

• 11:30am,
• 11:45am,
• 12:00pm,
• 12:15pm,
• 12:30pm,
• 12:45pm,
• 1:00pm.

Buses can enter and exit the road closure via the East end of Koombana Bay (Austral Parade/Estuary Drive end). Expect delays due to road closures and traffic management.

If arriving by bus, you can park at:

• Jetty Road Causeway
• Cobblestone Drive
• Ocean Drive

Walk route

The Walk for Reconciliation follows a 1.2km route that is mostly flat, with a slight incline over the bridge. The path is suitable for prams and wheelchairs, and participants are welcome to move at their own pace.

We are looking for stalls that are engaging, interactive, and demonstrate reconciliation in action!

Some examples include:

• • An activity that showcases your organisation’s commitment to reconciliation.

• • Engaging information about what your organisation is doing to progress reconciliation.

• • Local handmade goods for sale.

• • Food for sale with food business registration.

No, this event is free and open to everyone. You are however welcome to register your interest with Reconciliation WA should you wish. 

Yes, the walk is completely free to attend.  

The event itself will run from 10 am to 1 pm. The walk will begin at 10:30 am, finishing at 11:30 am. The main stage program runs from 11 am and continues until 1 pm at Bicentennial Square. 

The walk is an outdoor event and will proceed in light rain. In the event of severe or dangerous weather, we will communicate any changes via our website, social media channels and email to those who have registered their interest as early as possible. We recommend reviewing the weather forecast on the morning of the event and coming prepared as appropriate. 

Yes! The walk begins at 10:30 am, and takes between 30 – 60 minutes. The road closures will be in place until 11:30 am, at which point the walk will have concluded and the remainder of the event will be solely based at Bicentennial Square. Please note that if you arrive after the road closure, you may experience delays if your arriving by car – refer to the road closure information of this page for more details.

Yes. Accessible toilets will be available at the event site. Locations will be marked on the event map, which will be available on the website ahead of the day. 

Yes. A quiet and culturally safe space will be available and clearly signposted at the Bicentennial Square, proudly sponsored by APM Communities. If you or someone in your group needs support on the day, please speak to any staff member or volunteer wearing a City of Bunbury hi-vis vest.

Absolutely. The walk is a family-friendly event and we love seeing kids join in.  

Yes. Prams and strollers are welcome.

We recommend bringing: 

• Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes 

• Water bottle (refill station will be available) 

• Sun protection – hat, sunscreen and sunglasses 

• A rain jacket and/or umbrella (weather dependent) 

• A sense of curiosity and connection 

Yes. A variety of food and drink options will be available for purchase at Bicentennial Square from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm, including food trucks and a baked goods stall. You can also enjoy a free community sausage sizzle at the SWAMS stall, proudly sponsored by SWAMS.  

You are also welcome to bring your own snacks and a water bottle. 

Yes. There will be a rehydration station, proudly sponsored by Aqwest, at the end of the walk located in Bicentennial Square. The location of this will be on the event map shared ahead of the day. 

Comfortable clothing and closed-toe walking shoes suited to an outdoor event held on pavement and grassed areas. Sun protection is strongly recommended — October in Bunbury can be warm. Wear your reconciliation spirit proudly.

The walk usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes, though we allow for up to an hour for the size of the crowd and different walking speeds. 

The Walk for Reconciliation takes you from the Wardandi Boodja Statue at Koombana Bay along Koombana Drive, across the bridge into Bicentennial Square. The Elders will lead the walk, with a Smoking Ceremony to participate in along Koombana Drive. 

Yes. As the walk ends and we come together at Bicentennial Square, there will be flag raising, a Welcome to Country, cultural performances and guest speakers. Following the close of the formalities at 12 pm, there will be live music, during which you can connect with your community, with face painting, food trucks and stalls on site for you to explore. 

Yes, and we encourage you to share your experience. Please be respectful of cultural moments and follow any guidance given by Elders or staff about photography during ceremony or sensitive cultural content. A content advisory will be displayed where relevant. Please make sure to tag us in any of your pics and vids for the day!

Yes. Assistance animals are always welcome. 

Yes, pets are permitted, although bringing them along is not encouraged due to the large crowds. If you do bring your pet, please be considerate of other attendees by keeping them well behaved, walking along the edge of crowded areas where possible, and cleaning up after them at all times. 

The Walk for Reconciliation is an annual community event that brings thousands of people together to celebrate the living culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, reflect on the journey of reconciliation, and commit to walking forward together. It is a moment of connection, truth-telling and shared responsibility — this year, under the theme ALL IN.
