Reconciliation Bridge Walk 2025

Thursday 30 October | Goomburrup (Bunbury)

Join the City of Bunbury and Yaka Dandjoo Events, in partnership with Reconciliation WA, for a powerful community event as part of National Reconciliation Week.


Event Schedule

10am to 11:30am - Wardandi Boodja Statue, Koombana Bay
Gather at the iconic Wardandi Boodja for pre-Walk activities. Enjoy live music, face painting, and other community activations.
Please arrive early to secure parking before road closures begin. Don’t forget to check the weather and bring your raincoat if needed.

  • Live music by local artist Cael McLeish. As a talented singer-songwriter, Cael effortlessly blends Rock, Pop, and Blues to create a unique and captivating sound.
  • Face painting by Local Bunbury Aboriginal Noongar artist Jodie Riley and her team at Koolbardi Design.
  • Live Land Art Activity with Elaine Clocherty. As a Land Artist, Elaine works directly in the landscape, using found local natural materials we will come together and create an amazing installation.

11:30am - the Walk for Reconciliation

We’ll walk together along Koombana Drive, crossing the bridge to the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.
This significant journey will include a Smoking Ceremony and live music, walking in unity with events also taking place in Boorloo (Perth).

12:30pm to 2:30pm - Graham Bricknell Music Shell
Celebrate culture, community and connection with:

  • Flag Raising Ceremony
  • Truth Telling Guest Speakers
  • Dance & Live Performances
  • Food Stalls & Community Displays

Network, browse the stalls and enjoy a storytelling live music performance by the talented Lachy John! Alternative rock, blues and folk outfit from Walyalup, WA.


Reconciliation Week Colouring Competition

The City of Bunbury invites all primary school-aged children residing in, or attending school in, the City of Bunbury to take part in our Reconciliation Week Colouring Competition. Celebrate Reconciliation Week through creativity for your chance to win great prizes awarded for first, second, and third place.

  • TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

    APPROX. 11:20AM TO 12:30PM

    WALK FOR RECONCILIATION BUNBURY

     

    CB Traffic Solutions, on behalf of the City of Bunbury, will be implementing a road closure for the Walk for Reconciliation. Their objective is to facilitate the safe flow of event participants to ensure normal traffic conditions can resume as soon as possible.

    Affected areas:

    · Koombana Drive (both lanes) from Austral Parade to Blair Street.

    · Blair Street southbound (both lanes) from Koombana Drive to Haley Street.

    · Blair Street northbound (both lanes) from Haley Street to Symmons Street.

    During this period, local traffic within the affected area have access via the Austral Parade end of Koombana Drive. No access from Lyons Cove toward Blair Street is permitted during the road closure. Proof of address must be produced if asked.

    Vehicle access will resume from approx. 12:30pm or once the crowd disperses.

  • Please be advised a commercial drone will be in operation at this event.

  • The Bus Shuttle service will be running before and after the road closure from Bunbury Bus  Station to Koombana Bay from:

    9:50am, 10:05am, 10:20am, 10:35am, 10:50am, 11:05am
    12:30pm, 12:45pm, 1:00pm, 1:15pm, 1:30pm, 1:45pm,
    2:00pm, 2:15pm, 2:30pm
