A view of Noongar Country exhibition from 2023. Several artworks on display in the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery.

In celebration of NAIDOC Week 2024, artists from Bunbury Regional Art Gallery’s Noongar Arts Program will present a collection of canvases in a showcase at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre (BREC).

Celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, NAIDOC Week runs from Sunday 7 July to 14 July.

The Noongar Arts Program art showcase will open at BREC from 1pm on Tuesday 9 July with a theme matching to NAIDOC Week in Keep the Fire Burning.

The Noongar artist-led exhibition will be an exciting, eclectic and creative feast for the eyes with the artists set to tell their stories, their way. They will seek to share the many stories of their experiences, connections to moort (family), Boodja (country) and each other through their art.

Artists have courage. It takes some bravery to put yourself out there, on a wall or plinth. The Noongar Arts Program participants generously, and with bravery, share stories so you will be able to take them home with you on Wardandi Country or wherever you return to. Thank you for seeing, listening and feeling with us ~ Noongar Arts Program artists.

We encourage the community to join in celebrations, learn and reflect, and celebrate local Noongar artists at this moorditj exhibition and throughout NAIDOC Week.

The Noongar Arts Program is supported by BRAG and funded by the State Government’s Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support program.
