The fifth and final stage of upgrades to Ocean Drive will begin on Monday 18 September with works taking place from Scott Street to Wellington Street.
This 570m section of road will be widened and the cycle lane extended.
Once the final stage is complete, the 6.4km stretch of road from Washington Avenue to Wellington Street will provide a safer and more enjoyable route for both cyclists and motorists along our beautiful coastal drive.
Ocean Drive will be closed during the roadworks with detours in place, but don't worry, you'll still have access to the Back Beach, cafe, and the surf lifesaving club via the north end of Ocean Drive.
To minimise disruption, Ocean Drive will then reopen daily from 4pm and be fully accessible on weekends.
These essential upgrades will be completed in time for Christmas.
