The City of Bunbury is inviting residents to provide feedback on the Draft Local Heritage Survey, a document that identifies places, buildings and stories that contribute to Bunbury’s rich history and cultural identity.
The draft survey combines and updates the City’s previous Local Heritage Surveys from 2001 and 2023 to meet current legislative requirements under the Heritage Act 2018 and align with State heritage guidelines.
Earlier this year, the community was invited to nominate places for inclusion and comment on existing listings. Those contributions have helped shape the draft survey now open for public comment, which includes:
- Improved inclusion of First Nations heritage throughout the survey
- Reassessment of all places using current heritage criteria and guidelines
- Consideration of community nominations and updated historical information
Residents are encouraged to review the draft Local Heritage Survey and provide feedback by 1 September 2026. Feedback can be submitted online, via email to info@bunbury.wa.gov.au, or by delivering a completed form to the City of Bunbury Administration Building, 4 Stephen Street, Bunbury.
