Fight the Bite stall at the markets.

Throughout 2023/24 mosquito-borne diseases have continued to pose a public health risk throughout the South West including the City of Bunbury.

The two prevalent diseases in the South West are Ross River and Barmah Forrest Virus.

The City continues to run a mosquito management program, in liaison with the WA Department of Health and neighbouring local governments, focusing on three functions:

monitoring of mosquito larvae and adult populations

treating major wetland breeding sites and identifying localised areas

communication activities to enhance mosquito awareness and personal prevention strategies.

The effectiveness of Fight the Bite mosquito awareness messages is being reviewed with the City of Busselton and the Shires of Capel, Dardanup and Harvey and we need your help!
