We’re excited to announce that the 2027 Country Athletics Championships will be held at Bunbury Regional Athletics Arena, following a record-breaking event in 2025 that attracted more than 500 athletes to our city.
Athletes of all ages from across regional and rural WA – from Broome to Esperance and everywhere in between – will descend on Bunbury to compete 15 to 17 January 2027.
After the incredible success of the 2025 event, we know firsthand the positive impact these championships have on our community, bringing families together, supporting local businesses, and showcasing everything our beautiful city has to offer visitors from right across regional WA.
Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel said the City was proud to welcome the Country Athletics Championships back in 2027.
“After the incredible success of the 2025 event, we know firsthand the positive impact this championship has on our community – bringing families together, supporting local businesses, and showcasing everything our city has to offer visitors from right across regional WA,” Mayor Miguel said.
“We encourage our community to get along and support this great event and the athletes, and equally encourage all visitors to explore our beautiful region and everything Bunbury has to offer.”

The hosting of this event is an outcome of the City’s partnership with Sports Marketing Australia, which works to attract major sporting events to Bunbury that drive visitation, support local businesses and activate our world-class facilities.
The championships are delivered by Athletics West in partnership with the City and co-hosted by Bunbury & Districts Little Athletics Centre and Bunbury Regional Athletics Club.
