As part of wider revitalisation works at the foreshore precinct, the old playground will be removed and will be replaced with construction set to start by January.
The new playground will include a flora multi-play unit, monkey bars and slides, swing set, a dolphin rocker, spinning disc, rainbow chimes, soft fall turf, and more.
It will also include exercise equipment, a barbecue, accessible drinking fountain, picnic, and bench seating.
The playground has been part of comprehensive community engagement with residents providing feedback on what they wanted included, and then voting between three subsequent designs.
The foreshore adventure design was overwhelmingly the most popular at a pop-up session and online poll, receiving 58.4 per cent of votes.
The playground replacement is part of wider revitalisation project for the precinct which has included path, landscaping and seawall upgrades in the area.
