City backs local tourism industry with professional development workshops

The City is partnering with Tourism Council WA to deliver a series of professional development workshops designed to strengthen the capability of local tourism businesses and foster greater collaboration across the industry.

Hosted at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on 28 and 29 July, the workshops will give local operators, event organisers and small business owners practical skills in areas such as digital marketing, publicity and public relations, alongside opportunities to connect with fellow industry professionals at a free networking sundowner.

The initiative directly supports the City’s Tourism Plan, which identifies business development as a key theme for building a thriving local visitor economy. Under Theme 5: Tourism Business Development, the plan commits the City to assist in facilitating business capability by providing training specific to tourism providers and the tourism marketability of the product.

The workshops also contribute to the plan’s broader goals of enhancing the visitor experience and growing bookable, well-packaged tourism products across the region – helping local businesses attract visitors, secure bookings and collaborate on new offerings.

Our local tourism operators are the heart of Bunbury’s visitor economy. By investing in their skills and helping them connect and collaborate, we’re strengthening the entire industry and enhancing what Bunbury has to offer as a destination.

By supporting industry upskilling and connection, the City aims to strengthen the capability of existing tourism businesses and encourage greater collaboration between local operators – ensuring Bunbury continues to grow as a competitive, vibrant tourism destination.
