Bunbury Harvey Regional Council (BHRC) has advised the City that trucks presenting with FOGO product containing unacceptable levels of contamination will be directed to landfill for disposal.
Published 04 December 2024
This is in response to high contamination volumes that exceed the decontamination capacity at BHRC.
It is important that the community continues to separate their general waste and recycling from FOGO correctly to ensure as little contamination is present as possible.
There will be no change to the collection frequencies and residents are asked to continue to use their lime green FOGO bin for organic matter only for their weekly collections.
Everyone in the community plays an important role in reducing FOGO contamination. Further information and tips can be found on the City’s website via the link below
The City remains committed to the important role FOGO plays in diverting waste from landfill and recognises that high contamination impacts BHRC’s ability to process and produce a high-quality end product.
It is the responsibly of our entire community, including BHRC and the City, to strive for a clean and safe environment for our future generations.
