The City has released the draft masterplan for the transformation of Bicentennial Square, marking a major milestone in the future of one of Bunbury’s most iconic public spaces.
Published 26 August 2025
This City Centre precinct is set to become Bunbury’s most vibrant and inclusive public space, connecting the heart of the city to the Leschenault Inlet waterfront.

The draft masterplan, now open for community feedback, proposes six vibrant precincts from a flexible event lawn to a reimagined station forecourt, and a central foreshore that brings the waterfront to life.
Guided by nine strategic moves, the plan also sets out a bold vision for a more inclusive, flexible and activated public space that can host events of all sizes year-round.
Nine Key Strategic Moves
Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel said it was an exciting step forward for a project that had already attracted strong community interest.
Bicentennial Square holds a special place in the hearts of our community, and this masterplan reflects the ideas and aspirations shared during extensive engagement earlier this year.
We’re now inviting the community to take a closer look at the designs and share their thoughts to help shape the next phase of this transformation.
The project has received $100,000 in funding from the State Government, with a further $500,000 allocated in the City’s 2025–26 Budget. The City will continue to explore additional funding opportunities to support delivery.
Share your thoughts with community engagement now open.
These designs reflect what the community told us during earlier engagement.
This is your chance to help shape the future of a place that means so much to Bunbury. We know there are strong views and big ideas, and we want to hear them.
