Dolphin Mobile | School Holidays at the Museum

Bunbury is famous for its resident population of around 100 to 150 wild Bottlenose Dolphins that live in the sheltered waters of Koombana Bay.

The dolphins live in smaller pods, and different groups occupy separate areas, coming together to feed, socialise, and mate. An area north of the bay near the ‘Cut’ is a popular meeting and resting area. Research by Bunbury's Dolphin Discovery Centre has enabled them to collaborate with Government Departments to give that area 'sanctuary status' by zoning it as a 'no vessel' area.

Bunbury's dolphins can also be regularly sighted throughout the local estuary and river systems.

To honour and celebrate our local residents by visiting the Bunbury Museum and making a dolphin mobile.

This free activity is recommended for children aged 5-8 years.
