About the Rainbow Serpent
The Wagyl (also spelled Waakarl or Waugal) is the Noongar manifestation of the Rainbow Serpent. Central to Nyitting - the Noongar concept of the "cold time" or time of creation - the Wagyl is a powerful creator spirit that wound its way from the hills to the ocean, shaping the land (Boodjar) and forming the rivers, lakes, and waterways along the way. His resting place is the Minninup Pool, just up the hill, in Collie.
