To enhance safety and reduce vehicle speeds, our traffic calming projects aim to create a harmonious balance between vehicles and pedestrians. Through the implementation of innovative measures we create safer environments for everyone.

By visiting this page, you can stay informed about the latest updates on our ongoing traffic calming projects, including timelines and any potential road closures or detours. We are committed to minimising disruptions and ensuring a smooth flow of traffic during these enhancements.

Minor Intersection Realignment

Moore Street and Braund Street One-Way Restriction Works

As part of the City of Bunbury’s commitment to improve road safety for all road users including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, we maintain a Local Area Traffic Management Program. As a part of this program, we will be performing minor intersection realignments to the Moore and Braund streets intersection.

The intent of this project is to improve the operation of this intersection by better informing motorists that Moore Street is a one-way street. These works should serve to further restrict the left turn movement into Moore Street from Braund Street.

The design drawings can be accessed via the link below. Alternatively, contact the designer for this project via the contact details below.

Work is expected to start September 2023 and is anticipated to take two to three weeks to complete. You will be notified within two weeks of work starting.

A number of factors are considered by our team when deciding on a design like this, including:
• Most desirable driver sight lines.
• Minimising impact on trees and vegetation.
• Existing traffic volumes and speeds.
• Engineering design standards; and
• Topography.

Clarke Street East Intersection – Intersection Alteration/Realignment

As part of the City of Bunbury’s commitment to improve road safety for all road users including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, we maintain a Local Area Traffic Management Program. As a part of this program, we will be performing minor intersection realignments to the Clarke Street East and Wilson Street intersection.

The intent of this project is to improve a motorist’s alignment as they approach the intersection along Wilson Street, making it easier to view oncoming traffic and improving the safety of this intersection.

The design drawings can be accessed via the link below. Alternatively, contact the designer for this project via the contact details below.

Work is expected to commence mid-September 2023 and is anticipated to take three to four weeks to complete.

Here’s a few points on what residents can expect during construction:

  • Driveways impacted by the construction will be repaired or adjusted during the construction, matching pre-construction materials (like-for-like replacement) where possible.
  • To the best of our ability, reasonable access to driveways will be maintained during construction.
  • Traffic management will be in place during the work, as necessary.

Beach Road Pedestrian Refuge Island

As part of the City of Bunbury’s commitment to improve road safety for all road users including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, we maintain a Local Area Traffic Management Program. As a part of this program, we will be constructing a pedestrian refuge island on Beach Road near the Tuart Street intersection.

The intent of this project is to provide additional safety for pedestrians crossing Beach Road and to provide a visual cue to slow traffic in the area.

The design drawings can be accessed via the link below. Alternatively, contact the designer for this project via the contact details below.

Work is expected to start September 2023 and anticipated to take two weeks to complete. You will be notified within two weeks of work starting.
