The Makers' Film Festival is an international short film festival dedicated to craft on the big screen. This year’s program is jam-packed with 17 short films selected from Mallorca, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Singapore, India, Australia and New Zealand.
The entire MFF23 program is only 90 minutes long, screened in two parts with an interval, and films range in duration from one to ten minutes.
The filmmaking and story-telling approaches are as varied as the craft disciplines presented. Interviews, documentaries, and stop motion animations uncover traditions, skills, and consequences in a glorious survey of making – furniture, public art, textiles, baskets, ceramics, glass, jewellery, and more.
Focusing on the diversity of approaches in both craft and filmmaking to illustrate (and tell the stories of) the breadth and wonder of craft practices from around the world and across artistic disciplines.
