To enhance safety and reduce vehicle speeds, our traffic calming projects aim to create a harmonious balance between vehicles and pedestrians. Through the implementation of innovative measures we create safer environments for everyone.

By visiting this page, you can stay informed about the latest updates on our ongoing traffic calming projects, including timelines and any potential road closures or detours. We are committed to minimising disruptions and ensuring a smooth flow of traffic during these enhancements.

Alyxia Drive and Wass Drive Intersection Realignment

As part of the City of Bunbury’s commitment to improve road safety for all road users including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, we maintain a Local Area Traffic Management Program. As part of this program, we will be performing intersection realignments to the Alyxia Drive and Wass Drive intersection.

The intent of this project is to act as a traffic calming device, helping reduce speeds of vehicles approaching the intersection along with reducing the overall speeds of vehicles throughout Alyxia Drive. The upgrade will also improve functionality of the intersection.

Work is expected to start in the 2024 calendar year and is anticipated to take two-to-three weeks to complete. You will be notified again prior to the work starting.

A number of factors are considered by our team when deciding on a design like this, including:

  • Most desirable driver sight lines.
  • Minimising impact on trees and vegetation.
  • Existing traffic volumes and speeds.
  • Engineering design standards.
  • Topography
