Community Consultation
Local Government authorities are governed by the Local Government Act 1995 and by any other Act that is applicable to a process being undertaken by Council.
Public Consultation is a requirement prior to approval of many applications made to council. Depending on the application is which piece of legislation is applicable.
The most commonly used legislations are:
- Local Government Act 1995
- Land Administration Act 1997
- Planning and Development Act 2005
- Health Act 1911
The City produces the City Focus column which appears in the Bunbury Mail each Wednesday. Advertising, public consultation and information is included in this column. Public Notices and advertisements are also displayed on the City’s website, in the Customer Service Centre of the Administration Building and in the City and Withers Libraries.
Your Say Bunbury

The community is invited to leave comments on the new online forum, yoursaybunbury.com.au, or fill in the survey at the following locations throughout town:
- City or Withers Library
- South West Sports Centre
- Bunbury Wildlife Park
- Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre
- City of Bunbury Council
People can also leave comments on the Your Say Bunbury hotline on 9792 7272 or attend one of the upcoming community workshops. Keep an eye out on the City Focus column for dates and locations of the workshops.
