Youth Advisory Council (YAC)
YAC Bunbury’s aim is to create one YAC for all youth that embraces indigenous, disabilities and multicultural representations, making a stronger YAC through diversity of its membership.
A single YAC will improve coordination and collaboration in creating events and community change. It will provide a single voice to be listened to by Council with a sense of responsibility and belonging rather than disparate groupings of youth representation.
To develop and create an inclusive multicultural community which embraces youth and families to live and grow.
Through listening and building relationships in the community, and to lead and connect young people so they can be empowered to use their voice to contribute to the growth of the Bunbury Geographe Region.
Bunbury YAC’s is guided by the YAC Effect; a strategy which provides the City of Bunbury and youth with a clear direction to build on its foundation of success and achievements.
The Shift Festival
The Shift Festival is an annual youth festival held in April during National Youth Week. The Shift Festival is a platform where the whole community can celebrate young people and their valuable contributions to our community. The festival continues to grow each year not only as a fantastic event for the whole community, but also to continue developing youth engagement in the Greater Bunbury region. It is hosted at the new Koombana Foreshore and offers a range of fun and healthy activities suitable for all ages and abilities.
