The community is invited to celebrate the arrival of our cutest new residents when the Bunbury Wildlife Park hosts a special “Welcome the Dingoes” event on the weekend of 23-24 September.
The Wildlife Park recently became home to two pure-bred Alpine dingo pups – a brother and sister – and they have embraced their new surroundings so well that they went on display much earlier than anticipated.
The official welcoming weekend will include the opportunity to see the Wildlife Park’s latest additions in their purpose-built enclosure, free face painting, a sausage sizzle and also dingo merchandise at special prices.
While hands-on interaction is not possible at this point in time, the pups are proving to be playful and inquisitive which will make them a popular attraction at the Wildlife Park.
Manager Tourism, Events and Promotion Isabell Evans said the weekend event was the ideal opportunity for the public to not only greet the pups, but to also meet the many other animals that call the Wildlife Park home.
“The dingoes have already shown their amazing personalities and they are proving to be a big hit with visitors,” Ms Evans said.
“This special event on the first weekend of the school holidays will be a fantastic introduction to this often misunderstood native species.”
The Wildlife Park is open from 10am with free face painting to take place between 11am and 3pm on both days.
The pups will have their names officially announced at a special ceremony on Monday (18 September).
Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre has provided generous sponsorship to help the Wildlife Park acquire the dingoes, while their enclosure has been supported by LD Total, Jetline, APH, Versace Lime and Holcim.
