The City of Bunbury strives to achieve a balanced approach to development that protects residential amenity, preserves heritage and provides clarity to developers.
Our Local Planning Scheme requires development approvals are gained for all land developments other than single residential (note: exceptions such as special use zones may apply - please call 9792 7000 for more information). It is important to know when approvals are required and the processes involved in acquiring these.
Development refers to a range of building activity; from clearing and leveling of land, to construction. Development Applications (DAs) can be approved quicker if you submit the correct form and include all the information (refer to checklist in the application form).
METHODS FOR LODGING A DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION:
• Lodge your Development Application online - Electronic Lodgment System
Note: If lodging an amendment to development approval, do not use the Electronic Lodgment System.
Note: If your attachments exceed 10MB in total, please use the Electronic Lodgment System (10MB per attachment limit), or email application with dropbox link for files as there is a 10MB limit on emails.
Note: An application is not considered complete until the fee has been paid.
By lodging electronically, you will assist us to reduce paper with the bonus of what is usually a quicker turnaround time for applications.
When finalised, a decision notice will be emailed back to applicant and owner. Please note, the City will no longer be sending hard copy approvals unless specifically requested.
• Submit a hard copy of the development application and associated plans (one copy of plans) to the Administration Building (post/ in person).
