The Bunbury Community Garden will receive a new lease of life thanks to the newly formed Bunbury Community Garden Coordination Group.
The garden located behind the Withers Community Library was opened in 2015 with the aim of it becoming a multi-purpose community hub.
It incorporates a large open space with three large bricked garden beds and a gazebo with seating surrounded by lawn and trees.
The area is fully accessible with all garden beds raised and joined by a wide footpath.
The group will take over the day-to-day management of the garden as well as facilitate and manage on-site community events.
Bunbury Urban Growers member Helen Bennett has been named as the group chairwoman and is joined by five other garden enthusiasts from the Bunbury community.
Crime Prevention and Safety Officer Elizabeth Larkin said the garden would be in good hands.
“The garden is a fantastic community asset and we are delighted to have had so much interest from community members wanting to take ownership of the garden,” Mrs Larkin said.
“We are excited to watch it grow and flourish further.”
