Perth Glory Women’s footballer Samantha Kerr will arrive in Bunbury this Thursday with her Glory teammates ahead of their clash with Canberra United on Saturday.
Kerr was recently named Australia’s Footballer of the Year and was in the top 10 for the Best FIFA Women’s Player 2017.
This weekend will see both teams battle it out at Hay Park South from 4.30pm in a family-friendly environment.
Glory is currently sixth on the Westfield W-League ladder while Canberra is just above them sitting on fifth.
This is the first time such a match has been held in Bunbury and Mayor Gary Brennan said it would be a sensational event not to be missed.
“For Bunbury to be given the opportunity to host such a high-profile sporting event shows that our great city is being recognised as an iconic destination,” Mr Brennan said.
“The benefits this event will bring to Bunbury and the Bunbury-Geographe region are huge.
Not just economically or from a tourism standpoint – sport helps to bring the community together.”
On Friday players will be given a tour of Bunbury where they will visit the Dolphin Discovery Centre and Bunbury Wildlife Park. Media are welcome to follow the players on their tour before a media conference takes place at 10.25am at the Bunbury Wildlife Park.
Following the media conference the team will meet at Hay Park South for a signing session with fans at 11am.
Tickets to the game are still available for purchase from the Perth Glory website www.perthglory.com.au
